Friday: Arrival & Settle In
Feel the pace immediately slow as you arrive in the mountains of Hardy County. Check in at a cozy B&B, a rustic cabin in the woods, or a stately, modern retreat surrounded by mountain views. Hardy County offers nearly every style of lodging imaginable – see the options at VisitHardyWV.com.

After unpacking, take a robust hike, a short walk, or scenic drive to get your bearings. Rolling hills, quiet roads, and open skies signal that you’ve officially left the rush behind. Enjoy a casual, yet impressive dinner at Mack’s Bingo Kitchen in Wardensville, or O’Neill’s in Moorefield, then wind down with a drink on the porch or a peaceful evening under the stars.

Saturday: Nature & Local Flavor
Start your morning with a hearty breakfast before heading to Lost River State Park, one of Hardy County’s highlights. Spend the morning hiking forested trails, visiting scenic overlooks, or check out Hidden Trails Stables and join them for one of their guided horseback rides. And if you’re looking for a bit more rugged activity, the Jay Moglia Mountain Bike Trails officially open in the park in May with routes designed for riders of all abilities.

Conveniently located near the park, grab a quick lunch at Farmer’s Table or stop at Lost + Found Pizza and Provisions – don’t miss their award-winning wings (and pizza of course). Later, browse Lost River Artists Marketplace in Lost City, the Grasshopper Gallery in the Lost River Trading Post in Wardensville, or Main Street Gallery in Moorefield. Both sides of the county have numerous dining options or pick up a take-out dinner to enjoy while you take in a sunset across the mountains or stargaze from your porch.

Sunday: Slow Morning & Departure
Sunday is for savoring. Enjoy an unhurried breakfast at your inn or grab coffee and a breakfast wrap from Drifters Cafe. Or stop at the Wardensville Garden Market for one of their giant maple cinnamon rolls! If time allows, revisit a favorite spot or take one last scenic drive before heading home refreshed. Hardy County sends you off the same way it welcomes you—calm, grounded, and already calling you back.
