Dillard House: Same As It Always Was, Only Better

Dillard House was born in 1794, when Captain John Dillard was awarded a land grant of 1,000 valley acres for his service during the American Revolution. Legend has it that he forged a peaceable trade with the Cherokee for all the land between the two mountain tops. In 1917, Carrie and Arthur Dillard welcomed their first guest, setting a family tradition of wholehearted hospitality.
What started as a six-room home has grown into a beloved mountain resort, where generations return for simple, honest Southern Appalachian cooking and the enduring warmth of a Dillard welcome.
As we honor a century of kinship and counting, we’re thoughtfully shaping the next chapter of the Dillard House experience. We’re preserving what’s always been beloved while creating new spaces to delight generations to come. From the soon-to-open Grand Lodge at Dillard House and reimagined rooms to a tranquil spa sanctuary, treetop stays, and spirited new gathering places like Rabun Brewery and the Doghobble Wine Tasting Room, we look forward to welcoming you to our brighter, more beautiful future.
At Dillard House, adventure unfolds at your own pace. Step from your room onto scenic hiking trails, to quiet nearby fishing holes, along winding horseback paths, or for a leisurely round of golf. Crave more? Whitewater river rafting, storied estates, state parks, vineyards, and Carolina treasures sit just beyond our gate. With so much nearby, you’ll come back for more, year after year.
