Quincy, Illinois is the eye candy on the arm of the Mississippi River. Perched magnificently on the bluffs overlooking America’s greatest river, the city glistens with natural and manmade beauty. It encompasses 15 square miles of lush parklands, scenic cityscapes, and stunning architecture, combined with a smorgasbord of tantalizing food and drink options.
After a sellout season in 2023, Summer Flavor Tours are back and hotter than ever. This popular event landed the Best Event in the State Award at the 2024 Illinois Governor’s Conference on Travel & Tourism. It’s no wonder. Tour goers are treated to the culinary delights of six chefs at six venues in downtown Quincy each Saturday, all summer long. The three-hour walking adventure is lead by an entertaining Food Host, regaling colorful historic insights along the way.
Flavor Tours kick off at a new coffee & cocktail lounge, The Pour Haus, with the friendliest baristas in town. The cozy venue toasts community and connection, featuring artisanal coffee creations and imaginative cocktails. A new addition to Flavor Tours this season is BoodaLu Steakhouse. With stunning river views, a seasoned menu, and extensive bar, BoodaLu is a local favorite for mouth-watering steaks and retro cocktails. Back by popular demand is Quincy’s favorite authentic Italian eatery, Tiramisu Ristorante Italiano. The longtime chefs of the beloved spot prepare the dreamiest Tiramisu for the tour’s dessert course.
Quincy Brewing Company
Flavor Tours culminate at Quincy Brewing Company, the city’s only craft micro brewer and a true destination within itself, located in a historic reimagined space with a lovely beer garden. All the IPA names are inspired by the Villa Kathrine, Quincy’s Tourist Information Center and house museum. Try the Villa K, dry hopped with Cascade and loads of Citra, bursting with flavors of grapefruit, orange and mango, or the Lost Treasure: a super juicy New England style IPA designed with low bitterness and super drinkability.
A new self-guided driving tour has hit the wall: Mural Find + Dine Guide to 24 city murals with nearby eats & sips. The 10-mile route celebrates art in a big way, showcasing broad sections of the city, winding through the riverfront and historic districts. Some of the works are “ghost” murals, weathered by the elements and years, others are newer pieces borne of community revitalization efforts. Many of the murals brighten the facades of eateries, creating the perfect fit for a fun and tasty tour.
Another must while in town is Kayak Quincy Rentals. The new program launched Spring 2024, offering self-checkout kayak rentals seven days a week, sunup to sundown on the Quincy Riverfront. It provides an ideal way to explore the local waters of Quincy Bay, composed of interconnected channels, bottomland forest, a small boat harbor, and a cut through channel.
