Glenwood Minnesota is a small city in West Central Minnesota and the county seat of Pope County. Glenwood is located about 2 hours west of Minneapolis on the shores of beautiful Lake Minnewaska, one of the largest of 10,000 lakes that Minnesota boasts about. Visitors love the views coming into Glenwood from any direction when you first see Lake Minnewaska. If you want to stop and view Glenwood, there is no better spot than Mount Lookout. Glenwood is a lake community with good fishing in the spring, summer and fall, and good ice fishing during the winter months.
Downtown is beautifully decorated with sailboats and anchors, welcoming signs and beautiful hanging flower baskets. Main street is friendly for pedestrians and bikers. There are several specialty shops, restaurants and lodging opportunities. We host a summer festival, Waterama, full of fun events during the last full weekend of July, the Pope County Fair in August, and celebrate Winterama, a winter festival, on the frozen Lake Minnewaska in the middle of February.
