Nestled in the north Georgia mountains, just under the shadow of Blood Mountain, lies one of Georgia’s oldest and most visited state parks and campgrounds: Vogel State Park. Established in 1931, Vogel State Park is one of the earliest examples of conservation in the state of Georgia, and for the annual 350,000 visitors who spend their time on the lake or by the campfire, it’s lucky that it was given this designation.

Vogel State Park is an outdoor hub for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Lake Trahlyta is perfect for a summer getaway. With beach access, fishing, and paddle boats, the whole family can enjoy a day on the water. Even in the fall, enjoy biking around the park, playing catch in the fields, or getting the hole in one to win the game of mini golf, there’s always something for the family to do!

North Georgia is also a hidden gem of the southern end of the Appalachian Mountains, and Vogel is right in the center of them. Within a 5-10 minutes’ drive of the park is both the Appalachian Trail and one of Georgia’s most beautiful waterfalls, Helton Creek Falls. Within a 25 minutes’ drive, you can explore Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest point, and another iconic waterfall, Desoto Falls. If you need a slice of civilization, Vogel has you covered on that too. Nearby towns like Blairsville can give some reprieve from the wilderness with a good southern styled meal and a nice cold beverage.

Come explore the mountains of north Georgia, and experience for yourself the adventure that awaits!
