As spring makes way for summer, the Annual Lake Festival starts to take shape. This popular festival held each July attracts nearly 50,000 people annually to enjoy hot air balloons, sand sculpting, arts and crafts, live entertainment, music, dancing, and great local and ethnic food. The event culminates in the traditional ‘Gathering of the Boats’ and amazing fireworks show. Boaters converge on Buggs Island/Kerr Lake and festival-goers line the shores to celebrate the festival and view the spectacular fireworks.
