Dawsonville is a beautiful place any time of year, but there’s something about fall that really brings the area to life in the most amazing way. With an abundance of outdoor activities, markets, pumpkin patches, family fun, holiday cheer, and breathtaking scenery, there’s no shortage of things to see and do this season.

Experience the magic of Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge, which is home to the tallest cascading waterfall in Georgia! There are multiple hiking trails throughout the 800+ acre park, including the 7-mile Approach Trail that takes you to the Southern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Atop the mountain sits a resort-style 57-room lodge with an onsite restaurant, Cascades, featuring views from every table. This is definitely a premiere lodging option and a must-visit attraction in Dawsonville.

Another lodging option is Georgia’s only backcountry lodge, the Len Foote Hike Inn. Accessible via a 5-mile trail that begins at the top of Amicalola Falls, the Len Foote Hike Inn is intimate, cozy, and truly unique. The Inn is perched in a relaxed and beautiful setting amid the Chattahoochee National Forest, with an emphasis on conservation and sustainability, offering a peaceful retreat to unplug, unwind and simply enjoy nature.

Fall festivities abound in Dawsonville. With a healthy assortment of seasonal family farms opening in September, including Burt’s Pumpkin Farm, Fausett Farms Sunflowers and Uncle Shucks Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, everyone is sure to make the best of memories.

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm is beloved by the community and has been serving families during the fall season for more than 50 years. The farm has many activities for visitors of all ages, including hayrides, a country store, thousands of pumpkins and delicious homemade pumpkin pies and pumpkin rolls.

A few miles from Burt’s sits Fausett Farms Sunflowers. The farm plants more than a million sunflowers covering around 10 acres, making it easy to see why it was named one of the 10 most posted spots on Instagram in the State. Come visit in October to be part of the Fausett Farms Sunflower 5k & Fun Run on October 12th

For an a-maze-ing experience, head over to Uncle Shucks and lose yourself in the 15-acre corn maze. There is also a smaller maze for the little ones to enjoy, as well as goat walks, a tire mountain, jumping pads, corn cannons and so much more. On weekends in October, the corn comes to life with a nail-biting haunted maze that is simply spooktacular!

Fall brings with it the sounds of crackling campfires, crunching of leaves, and – the revving of car engines? That’s right! Come join in on the fun during the 4th weekend of October, when Dawsonville puts on their largest and most popular event, the 57th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival & Car Show at Main Street Park. The event features live music, a racecar parade, moonshine samples, and hundreds of craft and food vendors, as well as the chance to observe the many one-of-a-kind show cars on display.

What better way is there to get into the holiday spirit than to celebrate with the whole town? Dawsonville kicks off their annual Christmas in Downtown Dawsonville event on November 23rd with a stunning Christmas Parade, a vibrant Jingle Market and of course, the ceremonial Tree Lighting.

There is no better place to spend the fall season than right here in Dawsonville. We’ll see you there!
