The year 2026 brings exciting celebrations to Miami OK. Many activities for Route 66 Centennial and USA250 are planned this fall. Whether it’s walking downtown looking in the shops, enjoying the murals painted by local artists or enjoying a cup of coffee - when you visit Miami OK you experience it all.
Miami Main Street, located on the longest stretch of a Main Street on Route 66, provides stops at the historic Coleman Theatre built in 1929, which provides live entertainment throughout the year. Tours are available Tuesday – Friday 10am-4pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. In April 2026, Miami Little Theater will perform a Route 66 Musical Review. Miami Little Theater this year celebrates 66 years on Route 66 as Miami’s premier community theater. In September, Miami, Commerce and Quapaw Oklahoma will host a Tri-City Cruise Night. Each city will host a day’s worth of activities to include car shows, food trucks, family activities and music. In the evening, cruisers will join the 20-mile journey through the three towns and make the loop, stopping in each town to visit and cruise on! In November, the city will host the biggest birthday cake on Route 66 for the Centennial birthday celebration.
Miami is home to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, the GAR Cemetery and the historic Marathon Oil Station which recently opened as a cozy and unique Airbnb. And for those who like to camp and fish, Twin Bridges State Park is located about 20 minutes southeast of the city. The Dobson Museum reopened during 2026 after a 4.1-million-dollar renovation. Visitors can experience stories about the mining days, watch interactive videos and touch a piece of the Ribbon Road. There will be a display in the fall conveying Miami’s history of Route 66. The newly built Miami Regional Airport offers smaller plane travelers the opportunity to land for business meetings, family visits and tourist attractions. The British flyers trained at the city’s former airport in the Number 3 British Flying Training School, a branch of the Spartan School of Aeronautics, which was established on June 16th, 1941, and continued to operate until August 1945.
The Miami School District will study historic Route 66 in the upcoming year and through the district’s art programs, students will create various art pieces about the route. An all school student art show will be available for visitors to see November 5-7 at the Civic Center. The talent of our students will be showcased for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration of Route 66.
Christmas in Miami is magical. Our historic downtown is lined with decorated windows, garland and beautiful snowflakes waiting to greet shoppers. The feeling is a vintage Christmas with many activities throughout the Christmas season. Holiday Market kicks off November 13 – 14 with reindeer, breakfast with Santa, family activities and a Holiday Market filled with local artisans. New Years Eve brings a beautiful ball drop over our Route 66 Christmas Tree.

Miami Tribe, Ottawa Tribe, Peoria Tribe, Shawnee Tribe, Seneca Cayuga Tribe, Wyandotte Nation, Modoc Tribe, Eastern Shawnee Tribe, Cherokee Tribe and Quapaw Nation. These tribes contribute to its significance as a center for Native American communities and provides a strong blend of cultural background and native heritage. Fall provides a wealth of native culture through area pow wows. Each tribe has its own cultural museum.
