Every meal tells a story, and in Forsyth, Georgia, you’ll find no shortage of delicious dishes and local stories. We are home to Chef Chelsia Ogletree, the recent winner of Food Network’s hit television show Chopped, and the nearby iconic film location, the Whistle Stop Cafe. Get ready to explore, Forsyth is a foodie’s paradise all wrapped up in small-town charm.

 Flavors of Every Season

Even before winning Chopped, Chef Chelsia, owner and executive chef of Her Majesty Kitchen, has been a local legend for her elevated take on Southern Creole cuisine. Her restaurant focuses on the seasonal freshness of foods, resulting in a curated monthly dining menu. This allows the focus of each dish to be on how each ingredient comes together to tell the story.

While the dishes may vary, you can expect each one to showcase the flavors of Creole cuisine with a twist. For example, the soul food eggrolls use crispy egg roll wrappers and are combined with Southern staples, including collard greens, candied yams, pimento cheese, and baked ham. For dinner, expect exceptional plates like pan-seared lamb chops garnished with pepper jelly and served with decadent garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. While the entrees may be the main star of the show, you can’t forget about their equally delicious sips, such as the Peach Old Fashioned, for a summer-inspired cocktail.

Brunch, Please!

Experience the same exquisite bites during the best time of the day — brunch! Nothing says brunch like southern fried chicken & waffles or savory creole shrimp + grits. Or go all in for lunch and check out the delicious po’boys with your choice of shrimp, catfish, blackened chicken, or roast beef served with a side of crispy Cajun fries. As for drinks, you can’t go wrong with a NOLA Bloody Mary, a classic Mimosa, or even an Espresso Martini from the bar. It’s the perfect way to start your weekend!

Fried Green Tomatoes & Juliette

While the story of Chef Chelsia is to be celebrated, Forsyth has long been home to one of the most iconic dishes out there — fried green tomatoes. In nearby Juliette, located just minutes outside of Forsyth, a film crew discovered the beauty of what was once a bustling railroad mill town. They were scouting locations for a movie based on Fannie Flagg’s critically acclaimed book called Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, and fell in love with Juliette. McCrackin Street became the movie set, and an old grocery store was converted into the Whistle Stop Cafe.

Here, you’ll find Southern classics, including, of course, fried green tomatoes, country fried steak, a Yardbird salad, tender catfish fillets, seasonal vegetables, and fried okra. It’s well worth the wait and the perfect photo op for movie fans!
