Lake Waccamaw is one of the largest natural lakes on the Eastern Seaboard and most unique bodies of water in the world. The Lumber River 

Meandering through century-old cypress and tupelo swamps, the tea-colored waters of the Lumber River swiftly glide from the sandhills of North Carolina to the Little Pee Dee River in South Carolina. The Lumber River is the only blackwater river in North Carolina designated as a National Wild and Scenic River by the Department of Labor.
